Professor Oluwole Daniel Makinde Honored with the Inaugural N'Guérékata Award for Excellence in Mathematics

The African Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics (ASIAM) proudly congratulates her Vice President, Professor Oluwole Daniel Makinde, on receiving the first-ever N’Guérékata Award for Excellence in Mathematics. The prestigious award was presented during the recently concluded African Conference of Mathematics and Applications (ACOMA 2024) held in Niamey, Niger.

The N’Guérékata Award for Excellence in Mathematics is named in honor of Professor Gaston Mandata N’Guérékata, a distinguished mathematician renowned for his pioneering work in almost automorphy, his extensive contributions to the asymptotic behavior of evolution equations, abstract harmonic analysis, and fractional differential equations, and his outstanding leadership in advancing mathematics globally. Professor N’Guérékata is a Fellow of esteemed organizations such as the American Mathematical Society (AMS), The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), African Academy of Sciences (AAS), and Pan African Scientific Research Council (PASRC). His over 300 publications and mentorship have had a transformative impact on mathematics, particularly in Africa. The award reflects his legacy of excellence and his dedication to fostering mathematical development.

Professor Makinde received the award for his significant achievements in advancing mathematical research and education across the continent. His work has been instrumental in solving complex scientific and industrial challenges, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration in mathematics.

Professor Makinde, an esteemed academic and researcher, is renowned for his pioneering contributions to applied mathematics. His research spans various critical areas, including fluid dynamics, mathematical modeling, and thermodynamics, with applications in engineering and environmental sciences.
