The African Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (ASIAM) proudly celebrates one of its distinguished members and Executive Secretary, Professor Mamadou Abdoul Diop, on being awarded the 2025 Souleymane Niang Prize in Mathematics by the Senegalese National Academy of Science and Technology (ANSTS). This prestigious distinction is one of the highest scientific honors in Senegal.

Professor Diop, a renowned mathematician and Vice-Rector at Gaston Berger University (UGB), is being recognized for his groundbreaking research on uncertain dynamic systems and the modeling of unpredictable phenomena. His work, focusing on stochastic and integrodifferential equations, has significant real-world applications in fields such as finance, epidemiology, and complex dynamic systems, making him a leader in both theory and practice.

Beyond his research, Professor Diop has dedicated his career to advancing mathematical education and research in Africa. He has trained generations of students across Senegal, Mali, Gambia, Benin, and Central Africa, while spearheading major scientific initiatives, including the development of the future Senegalese Institute of Mathematics.

On behalf of ASIAM, Prof. Abdon Atangana, President of ASIAM, expressed his heartfelt congratulations:

“This award is a testament to Professor Diop’s exceptional contributions to applied mathematics and his unwavering commitment to Africa’s scientific progress. His work not only enriches mathematical theory but also provides practical tools for solving real-world problems. ASIAM is honored to have him as a key leader in advancing our shared vision for the continent.”

We celebrate this outstanding achievement and look forward to Professor Diop’s continued impact on the mathematical sciences in Africa and beyond.

Congratulations, Prof. Mamadou Abdoul Diop!
